Soprano Ellie Yeonjung Kim has garnered critical acclaim by Opera News online for her portrayal of the role of Rita in Donizetti’s opera "Rita," presented by the Martina Arroyo Foundation. Based in Washington, DC, Ellie is a prominent figure within the music scene, regularly lending her soprano talents to esteemed ensembles such as the Washington Master Chorale, Washington National Cathedral, Bach in Baltimore, and Baltimore Musicale. Beyond her vocal performances, Ellie is also a dedicated voice instructor, maintaining a private studio in Columbia, Maryland, and sharing her expertise as a faculty member at the Levine School of Music in Washington DC and Peabody Preparatory in Maryland. 

Ellie has taken stage as a featured soloist in a diverse array of concerts, delivering captivating performances in works such as 'Liebster Jesu, mein Verlangen' BWV 32 and 'Alles nur nach Gottes Willen' BWV 72 with Bach in Baltimore, as well as 'Wir danken dir, Gott, wir danken dir' BWV 29 and Britten’s 'A Ceremony of Carols' with the Washington Bach Consort. Her soprano vocals have also graced renowned compositions including Mozart’s 'Requiem,' John Rutter's 'Gloria,' and Handel's 'Messiah' in the DC metropolitan region.

Ellie's journey into operatic roles commenced with her debut as Lucy in Gian Carlo Menotti’s 'The Telephone' at the National Theater of Korea. Among her operatic achievements, notable highlights include her portrayal of Pamina inMozart's 'Die Zauberflöte,' Rita in Donizetti's 'Rita,' Barbarina in Mozart's 'Le Nozze di Figaro,' Sophie in Massenet's 'Werther,' and Liu in Puccini's 'Turandot.'

Educationally, Ellie earned her Master of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music in New York and her Bachelor of Music in her home country of Korea. Her artistic journey encompasses both formal training and a deep passion for sharing her musical talents on stages both operatic and instructional.
