Ellie Yeonjung Kim is a soprano and voice educator based in the Washington, D.C. area. Alongside her positions on the voice faculty at Peabody Preparatory and Levine Music, she teaches a private studio in Clarksville, Maryland, working with students of all levels — from beginner to advanced.

 

Her teaching focuses on developing strong, sustainable technique that aligns with each student's unique voice, body, and musical goals. She strives to create a supportive, engaging environment where students feel encouraged to explore and grow. Her Pilates certification further supports this work, informing her focus on breath, posture, and body awareness — vital elements of good vocal technique.

 

Many of her students have been recognized in competitions including NATS, the American Music Talent Competition, AAMS, Hal Leonard, CS Music, the Gaithersburg Competition, and American Protégé.

 

As a performer, Ellie sings regularly with ensembles such as Washington National Cathedral, Washington Master Chorale, and Bach in Baltimore. Her experience spans sacred music, art songs, and opera — from Bach to Puccini — which she brings into the studio to help students connect with a wide range of repertoire.
